The Colombia Coffee Growers Federation (Federación Nacional de Cafeteros de Colombia) has identified 22 distinct coffee growing regions in Colombia which can be organized into three main groups. Those are the North around the highlands of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta and the Central and South which are the slopes of the three sections of the Andes mountains that traverse the country.

Generally speaking, In terms of taste profile, the regional origin share common flavor and aromas characteristics particularly:

Northern

Traces of chocolate and nut flavor. Less acidity, more body.

Central

Herbal and fruity tasting.

Southern

Stronger hints of acidity and citrus.

Harvest Map

To compound things further these distinct flavor profiles will also slightly vary due to the fact that Colombia has two yearly harvests, make it a very unique country of origin. The below map illustrates the different coffee cherry picking times throughout the year.
